General Surface Preparation
Clean free of all dust, dirt, oil, grease, mortar splashes, moss, algae and rust. Also loose, flaking, peeling and semi-adherent paint and other debris. Ensure the surface is dry.
Metal (corrugated, profiled or standing seam) and Asbestos Cement: Cleaned rusted areas must be patch primed with 1 or 2 coats Kaleidoscope Zinc Chromate Primer. Use 2″. 3″ wide polyester mesh tape/scrim to “bridge” all sheet overlap edges, and cover all nail heads. If tape/scrim is not self-adhesive, fix with a dab of Kaleidoscope Roofing Compound.
Concrete: Poured concrete must be allowed to cure for at least 60 days, while cement plaster/rendering should be for 30 days. Fill any large holes, cracks, crevices with a mixture of 1 part Kaleidoscope Roofing Compound and 3 parts sand. Small holes, cracks, crevices should be covered (“bridged”) with 2″ – 3″ wide polyester mesh tape/scrim. On flat roofs, the junction of vertical and horizontal surfaces (e.g. parapets, etc.), rainwater outlets, protruding air vents etc. should be taped.
Directions for Use
Metal and Asbestos Cement: On the taped nail heads and sheet overlap areas oily, apply 2 heavy coats Kaleidoscope Roofing Compound. On the bare metal and asbestos cement areas, apply 1 std. coal Kaleidoscope Roofing Compound, thinned 25% with water. Then, over entire roof, apply 2nd coat Kaleidoscope Roofing Compound, unthinned, within 48 hours after drying of the 1 std. coat.
Concrete: Apply 1 STD coat Kaleidoscope Roofing Compound, thinned 25% with water. Then 2nd and 3rd coats, unthinned, to be applied crosswise within 48 hours alter drying of the previous coat for optimum film formation. Immediately after use, clean all equipment with water.
Ensure rain is not imminent for 3 hrs.
